This is a bassinette I built for our first grandchild. I have been doing woodwork off and on for about the last 30 years. Usually just small things. A shelf for our bathroom, a small pen holder, the bird and squirrel feeders on the previous page. In the back of my mind, I always wanted to make a bed or cradle for our grandchildren, so when my youngest son told us he and his fiancee were expecting, I decided to build one.
I started looking online and in several of the woodworking books I have, but I couldn't find anything quite like what I wanted. So, I took some inspiration from a few pictures I had found and made my own design.
I had seen a design that had drawers in the bottom and I thought that would be handy, so I added a drawer to my design but as you can see, I never got around to adding a drawer. First, I ordered the wrong size drawer slides and then I started running short on time and wanted to hurry and get it done. So, the drawer was dropped. Probably for the better because it would have added more weight and as it is, they can easily move it around the house to whatever room they are in.
